Sunday night pre-show saw the premiere of auditions for the upcoming season of Nigerian Idol. Contestants from across the country put their vocal talents on display and performed covers of popular hits and original compositions, with the hopes of making it into the singing competition which kicks off on March 28. Show host IK kicked things off with an explanation of the audition process, and also took viewers on an exclusive tour of the Nigerian Idol set.

As expected, the auditions caused quite a stir among fans who took to social media to share their thoughts on the performances. A number of the fans were delighted by the talent on display, and it didn’t take long for them to spot their favourite performers.

If viewer comments are anything to go by, some of the most captivating auditions came courtesy of contenders who delivered their renditions accompanied by the sweet sound of the guitar.

While there were many exceptional performances, there were also some auditions that provided comic relief and left our viewers in stitches.

Our #NigerianIdolFam then promptly visited the Rate My Audition page, selected their favourite performers and showered them with golden confetti for a job well done. Want to do the same? Watch the auditions here and select the audition that stands out for you!
