53 Extra: Yemi Alade. On setting trends in music and fashion
King Yemi Alade keeps making her mark; both in music and in fashion
King Yemi Alade as she is fondly referred to by her avid followers is no stranger to setting trends. After winning the reality show in 2009, the energetic singer songwriter has put no foot wrong in climbing up the ladder and ascertaining herself as a boss in her own rights.
The video for her hit single “Johnny” has hit a record breaking 79 million views on Youtube and is still racking up the numbers. The video for “Tumbum-Tumbum” is currently sitting at over 13 million views and her latest single, “Knack am” uploaded just 2 months ago already has well over 2.2 million views.
Coming off a successful debut as a Coach on the second season of Naija’s hit music singing competition The Voice Nigeria, King Yemi Alade hasn’t taken her foot off the pedal. She has been touring and performing on some of the grandest stages around the globe, blessing the world with her sultry, yet powerful vocals, her very unique arsenal of hair-dos as well as her fashion sense. Her stage attires all proudly local and made by House of Tangerine, which she owns.
If there is one fact you can bet on, it’s that whenever King Yemi Alade steps on stage, she delivers 3 major wow factors: singing, stage craft and fashion and it is these three factors that have made us fall in love with her all over (and over) again…and again.
Yemi Alade talks about putting in work, on fashion and music on #AM53Extra tonight (monday) at 22:30.
