Isidingo was created by Gray Hofmeyr and premiered on in July 1998. Labelled as ‘One Nation Viewing’, Isidingo very quickly became a favourite with viewers across the spectrum.

Isidingo explores the lives of the inhabitants of Horizon Deep, and their wealthier counterparts at OnTV! – a television station that moved from Johannesburg to The Deep. The newcomers, the Sibeko family – owners of the first mining project of its kind in Africa, the Ultra Deep project – are not spared any scrutiny.

The village includes people from all walks of life – from lowly mine shaft workers to wealthy executives – and serves as a reflection of South Africa in the new millennium.

The characters and story lines deal with the social and personal issues affecting ordinary people daily – such as heartache, fear, love, failure and triumph. These stories take place on Horizon Deep, Sibeko Gold, The Duncan Hotel, the glamourous surroundings of OnTV! and the Bokamoso game farm.

With over 3000 episodes in the bag (and many more to come), Isidingo continues to be the Africa’s top daily drama.

Braam surprises Cherel with his divorce proposal. Eddie goes all out to try and solve Priya’s gun dilemma.

The backdrop of Generations is the advertising industry, with a storyline that celebrates the dreams and aspirations of South Africans.

As with all successful soaps, rivalry, treachery and blackmail between siblings, friends and foes abound, and makes Generations one of the most forceful dramas of its time.

Suspense, intrigue and tension are the order of the day as the plot unfolds and romance influences relationships between warring parties.

Generations shows how people are making a success of their lives under sometimes challenging circumstances while also dealing with family issues, love and relationships.

Star Trek, an annual concert organised by Nigerian Breweries Limited, makers of Star Lager Beer, is about to get going.

The event celebrates Nigerian music with cross country dates and brings to the stage some of Nigeria’s finest music acts with no discrimination to genre.

Last year’s event was tagged “Nigeria Rocks” and music lovers witnessed eclectic performances from the likes of Flavour, J Martins and 9ice.

It also featured rap acts, MI and Naeto C, former MoHits Topnotch acts, D’banj and Wande Coal, fuji act Obesere, music divas, Tiwa Savage, Waje and Omawumi.

AfroPop legend 2face was a headline act last year as the stars toured Lagos, Ibadan, Akwa Ibom, Abakaliki, Markurdi and five other cities.

The line-up of performers for this year’s Star Trek will be unveiled on Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

Fingers are crossed as to who will take part in the music tour.

Tune in to Mashariki Mix tonight (21 May) to get a glimpse into the life of Greek actor and producer Alexandros Konstantaras, who can also boast being married to former Tinsel star Lizz Njagah.

The quirky movie maker has shot several films for and with his wife, and together they now run a production house called Historia Films.

The funny man has told us that though a baby is always welcome, the couple is not actively planning for it.

“A baby is always welcome. It will be a great company to Chura K (our pet terrapin). But we don’t believe in planning. We take it as it goes. And at the moment the way we are getting ourselves busy, I have a feeling that the stork won’t arrive anytime soon. But you never know the stork may surprise us,” he said.

Before he got married, Alex got a recipe from his mother to help him mix business with pleasure. He says that so far it seems to be working, and though it’s a secret he is willing to share it with us.

The secret recipe is:

1 cup consideration
2 cups praise
2 tablespoons of talent
1 small pinch of drama
1 teaspoon contentment
2 gallons of patience
2 tablespoons flattery
1 cup encouragement
1 dash of faith and trust

Blend well. Sweeten with generous portions of love. Keep warm with a steady flame of passion. Serves 2.

For more on Alexandros, catch up with him on Mashariki Mix on tonight at 21:00 on AfricaMagic Entertainment.
