Spotlight on the Family



Family, friends and business don’t mix… many people might think, but this week’s we shine the spotlight on just some that have done that. From taking the same trade from one generation to the next to being super couples in Nollywood.

Yul Edochie

Yul Edochie is the son of Nollywood legend Pete Edochie. Yul joined the Nollywood scene in 2003, he is also a director. He has starred in films like Weeping Child alongside Mercy Johnson and Joyce Kalu. In the movie The Bride is Mine, Yul stars alongside Tanto Dikeh and Ugezu. J. Ugezu. Father Pete Edochie has starred in various movies on AfricaMagic including Selfish Desire, Super Woman and Lord of the Mountain.

Jeta Amata
Producer and Director Jeta is the son of legendary actor Zack Amata. Jeta is known for movies like The Amazing Grace and Mary Slessor. The plot of Amazing Grace is around a British slave trader John Newton's voyage to West Africa and how events in that region inspired him to write the world's most popular hymn, Amazing Grace. This movie was made in 2006.

Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva
This Nollywood couple has been married for over 25 years. Last year they celebrated their 25th anniversary. By the year 1979 Uncle Olu was already acting. The couple is currently on tour in London where they are share the stage on the stage play titled, The King Must Dance Naked. Olu has been quoted as saying his wife is very romantic. He also attributes their bond to the faith they have in God.

Desmond Elliot and Family

Even though his wife is not a headline making actress but as the saying goes, behind every great man is an even greater woman. With this in mind we felt it was important to acknowledge Mrs. Vicky Elliot’s role in the family. Interesting fact about the Elliot children is that all their names start with the letter “D”, Desmond, Denzel, Donald and Dona.

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Family

Being a mother of four and still be married and still keep a demanding career in the entertainment industry must be applauded. Omotola also runs a charity organization called OYEP.
