Dr Sid on 53 Extra

Sidney Esiri was thrust into a life in entertainment before he could even speak. His mother was a well-known fashion designer and his dad, Justus Esiri, is a legendary stage and screen actor.

Sid was very active in the arts at Univerity, and even though he studied Dentistry, he would find time in between his practical sessions to participate in music and dance concerts.

His first big break came in 1999 when he started working as a choreographer for Trybesman, a very popular hip hop group back then. With the popularity of Trybesman, Sid also became a force to be reckoned with and he could no longer hold his performing talents in.

In 2003, Sid released his first single titled ‘Don’t Stop’ which charted at number 1 for eight months.
Shortly after graduating in 2004, Sid moved to London where he started recording with the likes of JJC & The 419 squad, KAS, R70 and an unknown D’Banj. It was here that Don Jazzy, formerly with Mo’Hits records realised his talent and scooped him up.

Dr Sid has performed at numerous concerts and shows including the MTV Africa Music Awards, ThisDay music festival, Star Mega Jam and countless others. The awards also started pouring in, with the rise of his star including two nods at the 2011 Hip Hop World ceremony for Best Pop and Revelation of the Year.

Dr Sid is now with Mavin records and with his charm and innovative dance moves, Mavin has acquired a man for all seasons.
