He said, she said with Uti and Helen

You can't miss Helen and Uti's on-screen chemistry when they bring us Jara (Wed at 21:00 on AfricaMagic Entertainment).
But, how well do they know each other? We asked them a few questions about each other, read on for their answers...

Helen on Uti
What’s the funniest thing Uti has ever done on set?
Uti is always funny when he tries to speak the Yoruba language. Also, he appears funny whenever he dances. He looks like a clown whenever he does that (laughs).

What’s Uti’s most annoying habit?
He can be impatient, especially whenever he feels production is taking time, like when the camera guys are not getting things right, or when he picks up errors in scripts, etc.

What is Uti’s finest career moment so far?
When he won BBA All-Stars of course! I abuse him a lot on that one! (laughs)

Have you ever experienced any awkward moments with Uti, with a guest, or on location somewhere?
Well, we had issues getting along with each other initially mainly due to differences in opinion. It has really improved with the passage of time. I always have fun with the guests, so I’ve never had awkward moments with them.

As a previous, and very popular Big Brother Housemate, what’s it like for Uti to be on the outside, looking in?
He’s having fun watching the show from outside. I guess it gives him a third-person view of how life is in the house. He’s like an umpire now – unfortunately, he can only criticize, praise or judge housemates within the four walls of his room, he can’t say anything to their faces (laughs).

What is Uti’s favourite moment of Big Brother StarGame so far
I’m not sure about these yet – I think it’s a bit early in the game to conclude on some of these issues. Things will most probably take a more definite shape and then, one can decide.

Uti’s saddest moment in Big Brother StarGame so far
When Ola and Chris left the House.

Of all the Housemates in DownVille, who does Uti think has the potential to become a real celebrity?
I’m also not certain about these – I guess he’ll form an opinion pretty much later (that’s if he hasn’t already).

Uti has played the game before…twice! What advice do you think he would give to the current crop of Housemates?
I’m sure Uti would say 'Be yourself and don’t have sex in the house'!

Uti on Helen
What’s the funniest thing that Helen has done on set?
Every day with Helen is a comedy show for me, people pay for that kind of stuff and I get it for free. She does so many things I can’t pin point one specific thing. She loves to sing and mimic people.

Does she have any annoying habits?
Yes, sometimes she just overdoes things, she likes to talk too much. It’s not a lot of things though, she’s really cool.

What's Helen’s finest career moment so far?
I think it’s when she had her own show. I missed it because I was in the UK but I heard a lot of good reviews about it. I think she was the first female comedian to have a show and everyone loved it. I’m proud of her and I’m sure she’s proud of her work too.

Have you experienced any awkward moments on Jara with a guest or on location?
Yes, there are just some guests that you can’t get anything out of. They just give you one word answers. Imagine putting Cruela Devil on set with Mickey Mouse. It’s very hard to be bubbly when you’re not getting that energy from the guests.

Who do you think Helen’s favourite Big Brother housemate is?
I’d like to think it’s me, but if not then I think she likes either Chris or Ola.

From a woman’s perspective, what do you think Helen’s advice to Goldie would be?
This is not even from a female perspective, I think everyone would like to remind Goldie that she’s in the house to play the game and win the money. So she needs to be exactly what she’s not right now. She must stop playing lovey dovey and looking after everyone. She must get out of her shell, stir up some trouble and have some drama. She needs to wake up.

Who are your favourite housemates?
This season has been shocking and very disappointing. I was looking forward to seeing more of DKB, I loved what he was about – he was very addictive and always had something to say. I also liked Zainab’s confrontational nature and that’s what the show is about. People love the drama. I’m not saying they were good role models, but in terms of great TV content – they were good!
It was sad to see Ola and Chris leave because I believe they had a lot of drama to add to the house. I’m a bit disappointed in Lady May, at first I thought she was the person to look out for – she’s weird and I love weird people. She does the dishes in her bra and wears heels the minute she wakes up, that’s crazy! Keagan and Lee are also fun to watch!

You weren’t a celebrity when you went in the house, can you point out any of the ordinary housemates with star quality?
Well you can’t really say. I mean who would have predicted from the last season that Nic was going to host his own show? It’s a tough one, but I’d say Keitta – he seems versatile. I think he could host a good lifestyle show. Zainab also has star quality, I think she’s going to get a lot of movie offers. But for people that already have careers, this is a great PR exercise for them. It’s about showing people what talents you have so that when you come out, everyone is rushing to snap you up. I was very clear about the things I wanted to do after Big Brother -modeling, acting and singing. And when I was called back the second time, I had just finished shooting Tinsel. It’s continental marketing, that’s what some of the housemates are not getting.

Is the free publicity more valuable than the cash you won in the end?
Well you can’t really compare the two. The money is the ultimate prize, but you have to have a back-up plan so that you don’t just fizzle out. Apply yourself when you come out so that you can make more money on the outside. But, the cash has solved a lot of problems in my life!

Is there any money left?
Yes! One of the major challenges after the winning is to maintain that flow of money, because you don’t want to fall after such a great opportunity. I’m hard working and I want to make sure I have enough money to take care of myself and to help people around me.
